China update: Will this be the year when Japan overtakes Thailand? 28 January 2020   Back in 2014, South Korea was China's most popular international destination. Over the last 5 years, Thailand saw rapid growth going from fifth largest with 4m seats annually to largest with over 13m annual seats. 2019 however saw seat growth decline between China and Thailand, and Japan begin to pick up.  Growth in capacity between China and Japan reached 22% in 2019, taking seats to 12.5m by the end of 2019, and making it the second largest country market for China, and it seems like it won't be long before it takes over.
