Hey everyone, I'm back! It's Stephanie 👋 here with your Thursday issue of THE LATEST

Next week is the annual INBOUND event which, of course, is virtual this year. This is my 8th year attending INBOUND and this year I was asked to be on the advisory committee to help craft the attendee experience. 

The committee was responsible for a few things including creating recommended meetup agendas, determining what questions would be included in the virtual attendee profiles, and more. Recently, they asked us to share what INBOUND means to us

I was asked to go first and what immediately came to my mind was how INBOUND has transformed me throughout the years just as INBOUND itself has transformed as an event. What started out as simply inbound marketing became this massive movement for business and personal growth. But this took years to accomplish.

Transformation is never easy.

The way the world has transformed as a result of the pandemic has been challenging for everyone in different ways. My entire job has transformed with the current inability to hold in-person events. And now, INBOUND itself has transformed from an in-person experience to a virtual one.

But transformation is vital to survival.

Today, INBOUND officially opened up the virtual event venue to attendees to start exploring and building our agendas and it looks pretty incredible. Seeing this was the first time that I felt that little spark of excitement that I always get leading up to INBOUND. Seeing the familiar lawn on D and the big INBOUND sign (pictured below), it felt kind of like the real thing. Right before my eyes, I saw the world of virtual events being transformed.

I have attended many virtual events in the past few months and they all looked the same. There was an agenda with a list of sessions, a chat panel, and sometimes an attendee list. This was the first time I saw an event try to recreate the in-person experience in a way that actually added to the event experience.

While transformation can be really difficult, it can also yield amazing things. I won't give you the old caterpillar/butterfly cliche, but it's really true. Whether you're working to transform your content strategy, your sales process, your entire business, or even your career, keep going! You've got this.
