👋 Right now you can get Video Sales & Marketing World tickets are now $99! But I demanded to be special. So, if you use the code LIZHASFRIENDS, you'll get your ticket for $48.97. It's the lowest price you'll be able to get #VSMW2020 tickets ever.
I'm not a terribly superstitious person. That said, I'll admit I was a little irked that, as a Boston University freshman back in 2001, I was assigned a room on the 13th floor of a three-tower dorm complex called Warren Towers.
Why was I irked? Well, fun fact, kiddos — 80% of high-rises don't have a 13th floor, because the number is considered unlucky.
I'm also secure enough to say that, last Monday, I (an adult woman approaching 40) was tempted to grab a helmet, water wings, a nerf gun, and some of that freeze-dried NASA ice cream you can get at the National Air and Space Museum gift shop, because I found out that yesterday (Friday) was a Friday the 13th... in the year... 2020.
A year that has already been just tops, wouldn't you say?
Lucky for us, we made it through! It's now Saturday the 14th, a day of the week and calendar date combination that leaves no spooky vibes or nefarious folklore in its wake.
Now, there's only one thing left that terrifies me:
While mindlessly swigging a Starbucks egg nog latte and floating blissfully through a dizzying haze of "I survived Friday the 13th 2020!" euphoria, I bought the above Cornish game hen this morning on a whim.
"This looks fun and fancy," I thought to myself. "And who has two thumbs, speaks limited French, and is also fun and fancy? This moi!"
It took me until I got home to come to my senses. As I cradled it in my hands at my kitchen counter, I realized in horror that I've never eaten a Cornish game hen, let alone cooked one.
I would ask what the heck I'm supposed to do now, but I must live with the consequences of my own actions. I willingly invited the chaos into my home with my folly and culinary hubris. The most likely outcome is that this frozen, poultry-based hockey puck will haunt me menacingly for the next seven years.
Look, I may sound like an overreacting lunatic. But while I will concede my game hen nightmare is not as terrifying as the looming Google Chrome third-party cookie apocalypse, it's a pretty close second, OK?
