About a month ago, I was feeling really down. So, I decided to distract myself by researching my family. It was through that I learned of the tiny town my mother's family immigrated from at the turn of the 20th century... and I decided to start learning Italian.
This morning, after 30 days of "casual dabbling," I set a goal of practicing Italian every single day from now through the end of Q2. Pretty exciting, right?
There's just one tiny problem. I don't know how to roll my Rs.
Stupidly, I did not realize such a skill would be required to not sound like a total goober with a mouth full of soup whenever I try to say something like "chitarrista" – the Italian word for guitarist.
And yet here I am. I've committed now, and I can't turn back.
Trying to learn anything new is often wildly uncomfortable, because it feels good to know what you're doing. Moreover, it takes a lot less effort to just... stay the course, you know?
Of course, what is easy is very rarely synonymous with growth, whether that's in your personal life or at the office.
So, this weekend, I challenge you to commit to learning something new. And if you need some inspiration, check out IMPACT+ for our full library of lessons and courses – in fact, we just launched a bunch of new ones.
