🔥 Hot off the presses
🙃 I don't like to play favorites, but I adore this IMPACT+ on-demand session. You can watch it in full with a free IMPACT+ membership – trust me, it won't take you long to see why I have this session permanently bookmarked in my browser.
The beauty of the internet is that it's made it so much easier for us to teach ourselves how to do things on our own, you know? For instance, I recently watched a video on how to build my own farmhouse table.
(I won't ever do that, of course. But it was fun to pretend for a moment that such an endeavor wouldn't result in me violently losing between three and seven of my own fingers ... and likely blowing up the house.)
In many cases, this "teach ourselves to fish and we'll feast for a lifetime" approach is a very good thing – like learning how to produce content in-house for your company is a very good (and profitable) thing.
But have you ever discovered seemingly innocuous (but completely insurmountable) limitations in your abilities as you've embarked on your own little learning conquests throughout life?
For example, I've spent an excessive amount of time this week (at least five and a half hours, sadly) working my way through How to Roll Your Rs: The Definitive Guide. This skill deficit has haunted me since childhood. And now that I'm trying to learn Italian, my persistent failure to execute this simple slight of tongue is making me positively bonkers.
On the upside, if you're ever in need of a good laugh, just ask me to say "Arrivederci!" the next time we see each other. I sound like a drunk flamingo with marbles in my mouth ... just as my Italian ancestors intended.
