But it really is a simple answer.   When was the last time you did something from a marketing perspective where your competitors said, "There's no way that will work!" or "What are they thinking???"   Seriously, the answer to this question will tell you a LOT about the state of your marketing department and its direction.   Of course, if the answer is, "I can't remember the last time we raised an eyebrow in our industry," then there are two main reasons why this occurs: Your marketing team doesn't feel safe pushing the envelope (because leadership doesn't reward risk as they should). Your marketing team just isn't thinking creatively and in a way that matches where buyers are today. Friends, doing marketing like everyone else in your space will get you nowhere fast in 2022 and beyond.   Dare to be different.   Embrace experimentation (and failure).   Blaze your own path to excellence.   This, to me, is what makes life (and business) such a joy.   So let's do something exceptional, shall we??
