Understanding your audience is crucial for website growth, and Jetpack helps you do just that. That's why we're excited to introduce a major enhancement to Jetpack Stats: regional and city-level visitor breakdowns. This update allows you to see not just the countries your visitors are coming from, but also the specific regions and cities, providing deeper insights to help you tailor your content and marketing strategies more effectively.
Why Regional and City-Level Stats Matter
Your website's audience isn't just global, it's local too. Knowing where your visitors are coming from at a more granular level can help you:
- Identify Local Trends: Spot where your site is gaining traction and optimize your content accordingly.
- Target Advertising More Effectively: Use location-based data to refine your ads and promotional efforts.
- Enhance Localization Efforts: Understand if you need to translate or localize your site's content for a specific region or city.
What's New?
Now, the Locations feature in Jetpack Stats includes:
- A redesigned interface that displays visits by region and city, in addition to country-level data.
- A filtering option that allows you to drill down into a specific country and see visitor trends by region or city, in the summary/detailed view.
How to Access Regional and City Stats
- Navigate to Stats in your WordPress dashboard.
- Scroll down to the Locations section.
- Toggle between the Countries, Regions, and Cities tabs to explore detailed visitor data.
Keep in mind region and city breakdowns are available exclusively for WordPress.com Premium users. If you're on a free or lower-tier plan, you'll see a prompt guiding you to upgrade and unlock these insights.
For Jetpack Users on Self-Hosted WordPress Sites:
- Head to Jetpack > Stats in your WordPress dashboard.
- Scroll down to find the Locations section.
- Click through the Countries, Regions, and Cities tabs to analyze visitor distribution.
Remember that region and city breakdowns are available exclusively for Jetpack sites with a Stats Commercial License. If you have a Personal License, you'll see a prompt guiding you to upgrade and unlock these insights.
Filtering Regions and Cities by Country
For even more refined insights, you can filter region and city data by country in the summary/detailed view. This means:
- If you select a country, you'll see all its regions or cities listed.
- The selected country filter will persist as you switch between views.
- Choosing "All regions" or "All cities" will remove the filter and show global data again.
