The latest WordPress Agent updates make it faster to create a site and give you more control over what happens next.
Start with a custom theme, refine it in the simpler AI Editor, and ask the agent to manage plugins as your site grows.
You get the flexibility of WordPress, the convenience of a platform that runs it for you, and the power of AI, all in one place. |
Already have a WordPress.com site? The agent can help you review content, edit images, and make changes to your site. |
A custom theme, built for you |
You now get a theme made for you. Tell the agent what you’re making and what your goals are, and it designs a fully custom theme based on your answers. |
Plenty of AI tools can spin up a site now. The difference is when you build on WordPress.com, you: |
- Keep control of your work: Your content is exportable, and your custom theme is built for WordPress.
- Add functionality as you grow: Use plugins to add a store, booking forms, payments, and other features.
- Keep improving your site: Ask the WordPress Agent to make updates, refine content, or troubleshoot issues after launch.
- Leave maintenance to WordPress.com: We manage hosting, security, and WordPress updates, and our support team is available when you need help.
Doing all of that yourself means stitching together hosting, security, plugins, and AI tools, then keeping them working together. On WordPress.com, it comes together on one platform and one plan. |

A simpler editor, with the Agent beside you |
Generating a site now takes less than half the time it used to. Most sites are ready in under four minutes. You can go from an idea to a site built with your goals in mind while your coffee is still hot.
Once your site is built, you land in the AI Editor. It’s a simplified editor with two tabs: |
- Preview shows your site the way a visitor sees it.
- Edit lets you change your text right on the page.
This dual editing mode is helpful to quickly preview the changes you make. |
| Highlight parts of your site, request changes, and review the result in the AI Editor. |
|
The WordPress Agent is also there. Ask it to rewrite a headline, add a section, or change something you don’t love, and it makes the change for you. Or skip the chat and make the edits yourself in Edit mode. Either way works. |
Annotate mode makes it even easier. Highlight the specific parts of your site you’d like to change, stack several edits together, and send them to the Agent in one go. |
You can open the AI Editor under Appearance → AI Editor, or the full Site Editor under Appearance → Editor. |
| Find the AI Editor and the full Site Editor under Appearance. |
|
Install, activate, and update plugins by asking |
Need a contact form, better SEO, or a way to take payments? Ask the agent. It recommends plugins that fit what you’re trying to do, then installs and activates them right in the chat. You can also ask it to update the plugins you already have. |
You get the flexibility of the WordPress plugin library without the research and setup. |

|
A site that knows you from the first chat |
While it builds your site, the agent also generates guidelines for you. These cover your site’s purpose and audience, your tone and voice, your image style, and more.
After that, every conversation starts with a memory about who you are, what your business does, and what you want your site to achieve. You don’t have to re-explain yourself each time. |
Your guidelines aren’t locked away. Find them under Settings → Guidelines, edit them whenever your brand changes, and export them if you want to use them elsewhere.
The agent uses them to create the content and images you receive, whether you’re chatting in WordPress.com, Telegram, email, or Slack. |
You heard that correctly – you can now chat with the WordPress Agent in Slack. Have your agent at the ready when you’re working to make changes directly from a DM.
Connect your WordPress Agent to Slack in your account settings. |

Put your WordPress Agent to work |
And if you need a new site, build it with the WordPress Agent.
You get everything WordPress can do, a platform that takes care of the hosting for you, and an agent that builds your site with you and keeps helping after launch. |
|
Roge Blasco spent decades interviewing travelers and adventurers. |
When the blog documenting those conversations went offline, readers lost access to years of his work.
With help from the WordPress.com team, the Basque journalist brought his archive back online — and kept adding to it. |
Decades behind the microphone |
A Basque journalist born in Bilbao in 1955, Roge spent 39 years hosting Levando Anclas on Radio Euskadi — every Sunday and holiday, without a single break, from 1984 to 2023. He also ran La Casa de la Palabra, a daily program covering social issues, ecology, and geography. Between the two shows, he’d do three or four interviews a day. |
Mountaineers, solo sailors, cross-continental cyclists, the Dalai Lama, Edmund Hillary, Jane Goodall — they all came through Roge’s microphone. |
Starting in 2006, he wrote up every conversation on a blog hosted by EiTB, the Basque public broadcaster. Over 18 years, he published more than 6,500 entries — an archive of travelers and adventurers. As Roge puts it, “A large portion of these stories don’t appear anywhere else.” |
Then, in 2023, EiTB decided to close its entire blog network. |
Overnight, Roge’s archive went dark. |
How WordPress.com brought his archive back online |
Here’s the thing that made recovery possible: Roge’s original blog ran on WordPress. |
WordPress is open source software used by more than 40% of websites. It includes ways to export content and move it to another WordPress site rather than keeping years of posts tied to one host. That flexibility matters when an archive like Roge’s needs a new home. |
Technically, things have advanced a lot since those early blogs. The ones WordPress designs now are more beautiful, agile, and versatile. A pleasant way to read that also works as an archive, so the memory endures. |
|
Roge Blasco Granados, journalist and radio host |
With help from the WordPress.com team, his full archive — all 6,500 entries — was restored, now with photos, audio, and an updated design. He relaunched it under a new name: La aventura continúa (“The adventure continues”).
That same idea drives the Data Liberation project: making it easier for people to move their content between platforms, instead of having to rebuild years of work in a new home. |
| Roge’s relaunched homepage brings together interviews, audio episodes, and an email newsletter signup. |
|
A living site, not just an archive |
Roge isn’t just preserving old work. He’s still doing what he’s always done — finding travelers mid-journey, sitting down with them, and interviewing them along the way. |
Roge Blasco explains how he keeps finding new stories: “I continue to interview travelers. Some speak to us at the end of their trip and others I find when they’re still on the road.” |
On his site, recent interviews include: |
- Josu Iztueta: Cycling from Norway’s North Cape to the Basque Country.
- Paula Belenda: Riding a motorcycle from Spain to Tajikistan and back.
- Agustín Chaler: Reporting from the Afghan-Pakistani border during a year-long trek through Asia.
He’s also digitizing interviews from old cassette tapes — conversations that have never been online before. |
| Roge’s site offers a newsletter signup alongside links to follow his work. |
|
Platforms come and go. Institutions change direction. Budgets get cut. Hosting providers delete sites when you stop paying. |
WordPress.com doesn’t work that way. WordPress.com never deletes sites due to inactivity or non-payment—they stay online, accessible, and searchable indefinitely. It’s one of the few WordPress hosting platforms that works this way. Your site doesn’t disappear unless you decide it should. |
I’m conscious that these travel stories are important and interesting enough to endure over time. If we don’t preserve them, they’ll be lost forever. |
|
Roge Blasco Granados, journalist and radio host |
That matters when you’re safeguarding a life’s work. Roge already lost his archive once because someone else made a business decision. On WordPress.com, that can’t happen. |
| Visitors can watch Roge’s videos and explore travel stories by region or type of journey. |
|
Your work deserves a home that lasts, too |
Roge spent a career telling stories that would otherwise go unheard. Now those stories have a permanent home — and a growing audience. |
WordPress.com gives creators a full toolkit: site, blog, newsletter, podcast — all on a platform built on open source and designed to last. Not just for years. Forever. |
Your content is yours. It always will be. |
