Today is National Coffee Day, a divine holiday second only to my birthday (October 26) and Christmas, in its importance. ☕

Fun fact, you can elevate your morning coffee routine to Parisian fine dining-levels by pairing it with an apple cider donut.

Why is coffee such a big deal in the Moorehead household?

To put it in context, in the past three months, I've written 21 articles and 18 video scripts, and I've filmed 15 videos — including this one — for IMPACT. That doesn't even count writing THE LATEST, my strategy planning and development duties, or anything else I do every single day as part of my job. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do. But whew, I'm exhausted just writing that out.

Without coffee, none of that would have happened. Well, OK. I still might have been able to crank out 15 videos, but it would have been 15 videos of me napping on the couch.

Anyway, in honor of this momentous occasion, below you'll find a few of my favorite quotes lauding the virtues of the humble caffeinated beverage...

"It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity." ― Dave Barry

"I'd rather take coffee than compliments just now." ― Louisa May Alcott, Little Women (I need this on a mug, shirt, and tote bag immediately.)

"No matter what historians claimed, 'BC' really stood for 'Before Coffee.'" ― Cherise Sinclair

"Coffee is a lot more than just a drink; it's something happening. Not as in hip, but like an event, a place to be, but not like a location, but like somewhere within yourself. It gives you time, but not actual hours or minutes, but a chance to be, like be yourself, and have a second cup" ― Gertrude Stein

"The fact is, I don't know where my ideas come from. Nor does any writer. The only real answer is to drink way too much coffee and buy yourself a desk that doesn't collapse when you beat your head against it." ― Douglas Adams

"This coffee falls into your stomach, and straightway there is a general commotion. Ideas begin to move like the battalions of the Grand Army on the battlefield, and the battle takes place. Things remembered arrive at full gallop, ensign to the wind.

The light cavalry of comparisons deliver a magnificent deploying charge, the artillery of logic hurry up with their train and ammunition, the shafts of wit start up like sharpshooters. Similes arise, the paper is covered with ink; for the struggle commences and is concluded with torrents of black water, just as a battle with powder." ― Honoré de Balzac

Sadly, my own lovelorn prose around coffee is lacking. With that in mind, here is my contribution:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Without coffee in my life
Absolutely nothing is what I would do

Anyway, here's THE LATEST.

👏 "We heard that Facebook no longer has the 20% text limit on ads; what does this mean for brands?" (3-minute read)

A hardened rule for Facebook advertisers that started as a way to prevent the Facebook feed from being an overwhelming experience has been put out to pasture. Facebook is removing restrictions on ads which include more than 20% text in the image. Facebook is still recommending creating ads with under 20% text, but advertisers will no longer be penalized for ads with higher amounts of text in auctions and delivery. In this article from IMPACT UX designer Joel Waggener, get the skinny on this massive Facebook advertising news and what the 20% limit going away means for your campaigns.
